Climate Action Shabbat 9/6/2025

Speaker:
Beila Kraus is a freshman at Columbia studying Cognitive Science, as well as studying Talmud and Rabbinics at JTS. Over the past five years, she has been exploring how Jews connect with nature, and how our land based traditions inform our role in the climate movement. She has served on the National Board of the Jewish Youth Climate Movement, coordinating actions to push Jewish institutions toward carbon neutrality. She prays for a future where the Jewish people fulfill their duty as shomrei adamah, or protectors of the land.

Climate Divrei Torah

The CAC hosts climate action Shabbats at least twice a year. In addition, the Shomerei Ha'Adamah Circle meetings each include a short D’var Torah. Click here to see a sampling of these teachings.

Darkhei Noam will be holding its next Climate Action Shabbat on Shabbat morning, September 21st.  Stay tuned for special kids programming, a tasty and zero-waste kiddush, and a special D'var Torah delivered by Rabbi Yonatan, founder and director of The Interfaith Center for Sustainable Development based in Jerusalem.

CAC Tip of the Month

The CAC publishes a climate action tip of the month that coincides with the Jewish calendar.

Shomrei Ha'Adamah Dayenu Circle

Shomrei Ha'damah Dayenu Circle brings together Darkhei members and friends to work on climate action and make powerful, positive change with a Jewish voice.  We meet every 2 to 3 months, usually at a home on the UWS.  At every meeting, we ground ourselves in Torah, learn about a new climate issue, and take climate action in real time -- all in a supportive and open community.  You can learn more about Dayenu Circles here.
